Extracurricular clubs: eleven paths outside the timetable

In the opposite shift, Palas Atena students choose between eleven clubs: ballet, judo, chess, robotics, newspaper, drums, volleyball, basketball, art drawing, flute and violin. Those who want to compete join the olympiad teams and come back to school in the parallel shift.

What extracurricular clubs does Palas Atena offer?

There are eleven: ballet, judo, chess, robotics, newspaper, drums, volleyball, basketball, art drawing, flute and violin. They happen outside the timetable and students choose whether to take part.

Some activities happen in both places, and that is not repetition: in the Tempo Integral full-day program they have a set time in the afternoon routine, while here students join by choice, in the opposite shift. Street dance, the creative lab and the toy library belong to Tempo Integral only, and maker culture is EduMaker, a program of its own.

In the opposite shift

Eleven clubs, in the opposite shift

Ballet

Posture, body awareness and discipline, from the first step to performing in front of the school.

Judo

The art of falling and getting up. Respect for your opponent, command of your own body, and the patience of moving up one belt at a time.

Chess

An intellectual challenge that sharpens strategic thinking and focus, with a logic that carries into many areas of life.

Robotics

Students design, build, get it wrong and build again. Making things to understand how they work, rather than memorizing how they are supposed to.

Newspaper

Reporting, writing and editing. Putting your name on a story teaches you to check before you publish and to stand behind what you wrote.

Drums

Rhythm, timing and listening. Playing together means hearing the others before hearing yourself.

Volleyball

A game where nobody touches the ball twice in a row: either you play together, or you do not play.

Basketball

Reading the game, deciding fast and moving together, with the team always ahead of the individual.

Art Drawing

Observation, line and visual range. Learning to look closely comes before learning to draw.

Flute

The way into wind instruments, where reading a score becomes sound in the very first lesson.

Violin

Tuning, posture and persistence. The instrument that teaches early that progress is measured in months, not days.

Olympiad teams

Students who want to compete come back in the parallel shift

The school competes in academic olympiads with students from the first cycle of Fundamental through Ensino Médio. To prepare, they form teams and come back to school in the parallel shift for study sessions, research and coaching.
